I'm currently running Windows 2000 Professional on my laptop (a Compaq Evo N600C). The system is working fine, but I lost the system disc and I need to install the Japanese language pack before this weekend. I've been considering upgrading the system to XP anyway (my MP3 player software doesn't run in Win2k) since we still have the system discs that came with my desktop PC before it crashed.
I'm sure this is probably a really stupid question and I'm going to be calling myself an idiot later for asking, but is it possible to upgrade to XP without losing anything on my hard drive? (I have no way of backing anything up - the laptop doesn't have a CD burner or floppy drive and my flash drive broke on me last week.) I just want to make sure I won't lose anything, since half the stuff isn't saved on anything but the laptop and I'd be screwed if I lost it.
Thanks in advance!
