Hi,

I am using win XP Pro SP2. I have McAfee antivirus installed. I have scanned my pc and found no virus. My problem is that I am unable to turn off system restore on my drives. It displays the following error :

"System Restore encountered an error trying to enable/disable one or more drives. Please restart your machine and try again."

I've tried restarting my machine but that does not help. Plz tell me wat shud i do?

i tried to do wat you suggested but it didnt work out.....also wen i run system restore, an error message occurs saying:

"System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart the computer and run system restore again."

Still....restarting does't help.....

Thanks in advance....

you probably have some sort of OS problem, it reboots constantly or only when trying to run system restore?

Do you have go back or any other third party restore type software installed?

it doesn't reboots by itself. It asks me to do so.....Also wat i now figured out is that wenevr my windows load....the my documents forder is there before me opened.....i think it must be a sort of virus attack but then no virus results after the scan.....

its hard to say with out having physical access to your machine, if you have current back ups I would suggest just a wipe and reload of the OS to be sure that any software problems are fixed. I would also try to run an updated virus scan on your back ups first.

i thought of doing that, but then i do not hace enough space for backup of data. also i've been fromatting and reinstalling my windows wenever a virus disturbs my pc's working(slows my pc down), so i thought of getting help here. Isn't there any registry tweak behind all this stuff?
