System Seeks CD/DVD Drive at Boot? What gives?

Well, I built the new system, the whole rig runs GREAT; however, there’s this one really annoying – maybe even damaging – thing: at boot the system always “seeks” the CD/DVD drive and it makes a sound just like the old floppy drives used to do. I’ve tried setting it as Master, Slave, and Cable Select. It’s attached to the primary IDE controller, and on the primary connector on the EIDE cable. The hard drive is a 1TB Western Digital SATA III, attached to SATA port 1. Here are the other system details:

- ASUS M4A87TD EVO AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0

- AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

- PowerColor AX6850 1GBD5-DH Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 video

-CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PSU

I've already disabled all boot devices except for the hard drive in the BIOS, and it happens whether there's a disc in the drive or not.

Oh! The CD/DVD burner is a LITE-ON 22X DVD Burner IDE Model iHAP422-08.

Any thoughts?

Go into the bios and change the first boot device to hard drive instead of cdrom. Also, it would help to remove any cd's/dvds from the drive.

Do you have any sort of cd emulation software installed like alcohol 120 or anything like that?
