System standby question.

Would having your system standby by activated, cause more wear and tear on internal components then leaving your system on all the time?

i dont think it would, i would think turning it off/on all the time would cause more wear and tear.

I have been keeping my in standby mode for a while now, I personally havent noticed any significant changes in performance.
