System Volume Information folder

I have a strange problem here. I have a folder called System Volume Information on both my hard drives. Whenever I try to open it, I get a message that the folder is not accessible, access is denied. It does the same thing on both drives. And the folder icon is a lighter orange color than the rest of the folders.

I can't delete it, move it, or anything. Can someone help me out? I really need to figure this out because I need to format the second drive and I don't want to get rid of it if I need it.

The System Volume Information folder is where System Resore points are stored. This folder is protected and access is prohibited unless you follow the rules set out by MS. Read the article at the following URL.
