Take a look at this new build

This build has a number of incompatibilities. First let's look at your application. You have a need for a light work load like movies, music, ect. However, you did mention graphics design. What specific type of graphic design are you refering to? Do you have a buget?
All of these things reflect on the component selection. Let me first point out some problems with the above components such as the wrong memory for this Motherboard not to mention this board is an over "kill" for your needs. You also added the thought of using the new i7 processor which is not compatible with this board. i7 uses a Socket B or 1366 only found on the latest mobo structure. I would be a bit hesitant using the latest technology if I were you as being the first time build. You need to include an OS for the build also. This can determine a more stable component selection in the long run. Over all, the use of Quads and DDR3 memory would be more suited for high-end applications and you would not find much benefit in the added cost for what I think you are trying to achieve. I addition the graghics card is lame, you did not list any type of CPU cooling and the case could be a better selection on the cooling end. The PSU is for SLI and you have not mentioned that consideration. Do you need that?

Here is another quick tip! You may want to use two hard drives, one for your OS and programs and the other or others for storage of movies and projects. This way a drive failure or os issues may not effect your hard work. Just something to think about. You can add about another 500GB of space in total for around the same price as the 1TB drive.

I like you motherboard and PSU! Are trying to test if those different brands/manufacturers will work? hehehe!
My gadgets might also have incompatibility with your rig. :)
