is there anything else i need to buy that is a neccessity to run a computer? its my understanding that h50 comes with thermal paste so i dont need that?

Drop the heatsink, unless you plan on OCing (which is not really needed). You may want to consider getting a sandy bridge.

plan to OC and sandybridge + p67 board = too much $$ for me...
250$ for a 960 was a steal! anyways i just got back from buying everything, ill be building a comp for first time wooooooooooooooooot
