Take CD out on restart?

Hi all,

Is it normal for a computer to hold during DOS boot (not freeze, just command prompt with notification) when a CD is in? When I install the chipset driver for my Asus P5N-E mobo and restart, it gets to the point just before it would show the Windows logo with the green loading bar and gives me a little message and a prompt. If I take the CD out and restart, it loads Windows fine, with the driver successfully installed.

It only happens with my Asus driver CD - no other CDs. But this is reminiscent of having to take out a floppy before you restart, and I didn't know some CDs were like that. And yes, "boot from CD" is first in the BIOS.

Basically, is this normal? It's not a big deal at all - I don't mind it if that's the only issue - but I want to make sure it's not a symptom of a bad motherboard or something. What do you think?

(I can't tell you the notification I get, because I'm sending back my GPU and my computer's out of commission for a few days.)

EDIT: Sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum and I don't know how to switch it. I'd still appreciate any help.

Yeah, its normal. You said yourself that first boot priority goes to a cd-rom.. It's just doing what it's supposed to. :)
