take from old laptop, add to new?

i have an old hp pavillion xz275. it doesnt work, due to the power socket having broken. i have my dads old dell inspiron 600. can i take the ram and or other parts from the hp to speed up the inspiron? like RAM and Proccessor?

Actually, it does appear you could. The two seem to be from around the same era. Processor is probably swappable, both use DDR RAM. As long as both have matching sockets (likely) as you have open RAM slots (or just remove some from the Dell) you should be fine. Oh, one last thing. You should confirm the processor in the HP is compatible with the Dell's bios. IE, find what the max processor is that was put out in the Dell and be sure it doesn't exceed that. Otherwise it may not POST.
 
are you sure? i just pulled out the RAM from the inspiron, and it say to only use ddr2. but thats the external slots, i havent looked inside. from what i can find, the pavillion uses ddr, not ddr2. so im afraid to try it.
