task bar

It probably isn't the drivers, though you do need them anyway. Right click the desktop > Properties > Settings > and you might see pictures of two monitors, you need to play with the settings so that you set ONE monitor and video card as the primary display and not the integrated graphics. You should disable the integrated graphics in the hardware manager too.

have loaded drivers from disc but still no task bar.
funny thing is if i connect back on the original monitor socket, have task bar but nothing else on screen. help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep. I agree with Dual Monitors suggested by Starwarsman.
If that doesn't do it... uninstalling the previous vid card drivers could do it.
But i'm quite sure it's the Dual Monitor issue!

If you try popping up the display properties panel to fix this probem and it doesn't show, then you'll have to plug another monitor in and select single monitor usage.

This happened to me with my laptop when i used dual monitors, it went hybernating and then shut down. When i restarted later on, without the dual monitor, all i had was barrytibbles issue. Had to plug another monitor, change to single display and that was it...

Starwarsman is right!

sorry to be a pain, not being computer minded but do you mean adjusting the screen resolution, which i have tried but only makes pic get smaller

Ok, ok... this is what you should do. Please try this:

1. Right click the desktop (thats your backround)
2. Click Properties
3. Click Settings
4. You will see a big number 1 and a number 2. Those are the boxes that represent your dual monitors. Right click the number 2 box, and un-select the "attached" check mark box.
5. Now, right click the number 1 box and make sure that you check the "attached" and the "primary" check boxes.

(Note: If this does not work, then it is something else. But I've had the same exact thing happen to me, so I'm pretty sure that this is it.)
