when i try opening task manager i got this pop up Task Manager has been disable by administrator . how can i disable it ?

Usually when Task Manager is disabled, it is because you have a virus. I would sweep your system and find out if this is the case.

Are you logged on a restricted account or an administrator account?

Some restricted accounts will not let you access Task Manager.

If you are using a Libraries computer or some other networked computer that you don't own quite often they disable the Task Manager. So people can't mess it up that easy.

And is it just me or do I smell fish?

2. Discussions which actively encourage illegal hacking/malicious harm to computers/networks is prohibited (this includes discussion surrounding use of proxy servers)

And here are some good free anti-viruses; AVG free or Avast!

AD-Aware Personal SE is a great program and easy to use and completely free. I use it myself. It picks up Cookies, Temporary Internet Files, Registry Keys, all Files and Folders. Made by Lavasoft. For more info go to these websites.

Adaware does nothing with viruses.... Adaware is mainly for malware/spyware issues. I don't know about Avast but I do know that AVG does scan the system restore files. I've always recommended AVG for that reason if you are wanting to use free software.

Could also be a rootkit.

Download GMER from here:
http://www.gmer.net/files.php

Unzip it to the desktop.

Open the program and click on the Rootkit tab.
Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
Click on Scan.
When the scan has run click Copy and paste the results (if any) into this thread.
