I have my dads laptop in front of me. He bought it from currys(horrible shop & policy),& found he hated(and me also) the windows 8,so i said i will put win 7 on it.
Its taken me all night(from 6pm),& I eventually got it installed, but the drivers are a bit of a problem for win 7.
On my device manager I have only 1 exclamation mark left(johnb35 I followed one of your threads, but am still left with this 1 ex mark)
the exclamation mark is on 'Other devices/Universal serial bus'
when i go into device manager te PCI/DEV is 1022 & 7814
Can anyone help me with a driver for this please? my heads about to implode
thank you very much
PS: can you believe Currys charge £50-75 to change win 8 to win 7!!!!absolutely disgusting. no wonder theyre doing badly financially

that worked a treat. thank you so much.saved my life
just another 1 thing though, the webcam on device manager shows as HD webcam, and has no exclamation mark and looks normal, but i cant seem to find any software for it.Ive never owned a webcam before so dont know what to do(sorry).
the hardware ids is
USB\VID_04F2&PID_B3D6&REV_3907&MI_00
USB\VID_04F2&PID_B3D6&MI_00

john thanks SO MUCH for your help.you're a star!!!!
All working now. Boy those laptops are really good with W7 on it.8Gb of RAM & 1Tb HDD,plus quad core processor=quite nice.
Ive copied his driver back ups to usb stick plus made recovery disc/repair disc,so all good to go now.
can i just ask you,I have a Dell PC with XP Pro on it. Would it be possible to put windows 7 onto that?

What are the specs of it? What processor and how much ram? Or do you have the dell model number handy?

i put 2gb of ram in it. its the dell optiplex 330
cant remember the processor type, but its the stock one. i read somewhere that its pointless putting windows 7 into anything thats not got at least 4gb of ram.is that true?
It was maybe even you in another thread i read saying that. lol

The optiplex will hold up to 4gb of ram. So if you can upgrade to 4gb don't see why you can't.

so thats true about the 4gb of ram that says a system must have 4gb for win 7?you wouldnt happen to know what name/type of ram i should look out for?

Looks like its ddr2

DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-5300,

Just put in another 2gb of the same speed you have right now.
