Hey Guys This is My first time building my first PC and my first time overclocking, i dont have my PC with me right now (because it's at fries getting the fried mobo fixed) but i figured now would be the best time to do some research on how to overclock. From what i hear, overclocking mostly has to do with the compatibility of my parts, mostly the mobo and my processor and a good amount with the ram. Not to mention i have to be able to keep this thing cool.
My PC is in my sig, the mobo is ASUS P5LD2 and the processor is a Pentium D 930, from what i read on the internet, you could overclock this baby all the way to 4.0 ghz is that true? They mentioned temperatures of 74C and there was some debate as to how bad that was, and in case you need to know, my case is supposed to have the best colling in its price range (3 120mm fans, one on side, one back, one front)
So does anyone want to give me a general step by step instructions on what to do? What to look out for so i dont hurt any components? What Should i measure besides the temp. (how do i measure, do i have to buy something or will my PC tell me how hot it is)?
thanks for any of your help guys
