i just started getting a problem in TF2 where i will refresh the server list and join a server that says it has a lot of people on it, only to find that its empty when i get in.... also, a lot of the results returned from refreshing the list are like the ones in the above pic (old server, connect to redirect). i cant figure it out.... anyone have any ideas?
 
I've also had the problem where i've joined a server that says it has lots of people on it and finding its empty when i get on, pretty annoying.
 
There are mods and hacks that allow a server to show people playing, I believe it's just to make the server seem more popular and show up on the top of the list. You can always check to make sure by clicking "View server info" and see if there are any players in the server. Anyone with a -1 time means it's the computer.
 
valve needs to address this as soon as possible... if i sit down for a game and have one failed attempt to join a server, it's annoying, two is obnoxious, three times and I am no longer want to play TF2
 
Thanks, I wondered why this happened to me.

Also the issue where you double click the server and it doesn't connect you.
Then you have to click it like 2 more times to get it to work.
Yeah...that annoys me alot. They've had how long to prefect steam? I remember the friends list being down for like 2 years because of "maintenance".

Again, that's why you need to view server info first to see if there are real people playing.
