How to Install Ubuntu 10.10 The Easiest Way
You would be requiring Ubuntu 10.10 CD for the installation. Insert Ubuntu CD into the CD/DVD-drive and restart your computer.
For this installation, I have used following configuration in my test environment:
Latest version of Virtual Box
13 GB Hard Disk
512 MB RAM
Negative Internet Connection
A welcome screen prompting you to choose your language and giving you the option to install Ubuntu or try it from the CD.
You can also boot from USB drive, you will get same option as you were getting in the CD version
If your computer does not boot automatically either from CD/USB, you might need to edit the Boot order from BIOS settings
In the Next window, Prepare to install Ubuntu
System will check the necessary required components
I recommend you plug your computer into a power source for this stage. You should also make sure you have atleast 2.6 GB of space availble on your computer to install Ubuntu. You should also connected to the Internet so you can get the latest updates. If you’re having problems connecting to the Internet, use the menu in the top-right hand corner to select a network.

Click on Forward to continue
Use the checkboxes to choose whether you’d like to Install Ubuntu on the entire Harddisk, or wanted to install in a partition.
Depending on your selection, you can now verify that you have chosen the way in which you would like to install Ubuntu. The installation process will begin when you click the ‘Install Now’ button.
Select your location and click ‘Forward’ to proceed.
Select your Keyboard Layout. If you are not sure about your keyboard layout, simply type few words, system will help you to find
Enter your user name, password
Click Forward to continue
System will automatically install Ubuntu while you can wait and learn the various menus and functions, programs of Ubuntu
Now you can Restart your System and enjoy Ubuntu
Your Installation finished
