TechNET Subscription = Windows?

Hi,
I am thinking about joining TechNET to gain access to MS software. I heard that if you're a member, you can get legal copies of Windows, Office and whatnot as a benefit. If I join, will I in fact have access to MS OS and other software? As you can tell, I'm not very familiar with it but would appreciate your help.

I look forward to your input and opinions on TechNET. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you are correct. But i'm pretty sure you can only install the OS once though. Like Windows7 you can install on one computer, windows Vista you can install on one computer. You can't install your Windows7 Technet edition on 3 computers. (I'm pretty sure)

Wait, so if I get technet I can't install Win 7 on my 3 computers? Thats super lame and not worth it for me...

No, technet does. you get unlimited keys for most of the software... You get ms dos to win 7, from server 2003 to server 2008 r2. But technet is for testing products. not for production, MSDN is for production.

Yup, that's how it works as far as I know. I had technet for about 12 hours when they accidentally gave out free subscriptions. Got some good keys. :D

I see. How does one go about getting a "Subscriber ID"? Thanks.

Well, you have to subscribe.

O.o

Dang mep, I was hoping you wouldn't say that. It should be free.....only to me.:D

Sometimes you can find some really good promo codes. Awhile back they offered the subscription for 99$, which is a great deal.

Wow... You get Unlimited licenses for the operating systems? With TechNet Plus?

You get access to dozens of MS software titles, not just their OS lineup. When I had it, I was able to generate multiple keys for XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, 7 RC1 keys, Office 07 Ultimate and some others. I'm not sure if it's "unlimited" (Brian would know better). Not sure how many you would need. I know I have more than enough now. :P

I believe its unlimited. (nothing has stopped me yet). But i highly recommend it. you also get free video tutorials and what not and you get products before the general public does (win 7). I mean for the cost you could get it for a year, download what you need and youll be set!

When I click on that link it says "Active Subscribers can sign in to see the currently available Top Downloads." And I am currently signed in on that page..
