Technical Difficulties PART I

I built my system. And it has always had trouble sleeping. It would sleep for about 20mins or so the wake back up. And I was willing to live with that. Then one day it went to sleep and wouldn't wake up. I had to restart my computer to get it out of the sleeping state. The best I can do to fix the problem is to disable sleeping. Any way I can fix this? I am on Vista BTW.

I have Vista on my new HP laptop and it never "sleeps" too well. It's woken me up during the night randomly restarting, or sometimes would fail to go to sleep(basically a locked up state)

I'd try disabling your mouse or something just before putting your computer to sleep. I've had super-sensitivity mice wake up for no reason causing the machine to wake up as well. Also, you may consider checking your Event Viewer to see if any errors may be causing your machine to come out of sleep.

I was fine with it waking up randomly, but the perpetual sleep that occurs just won't do. Is the event viewer in the control panel somewhere and would it tell me something about this certain problem.
