temp of computer?

:confused: I was just wondering how do you tell what the temps of your hardwares were. for instance your northbridge chips, fans, cpu, etc~ do you have to purchase a device that tells you such things? or do you go to bios to find out? or is there a way to find out through your desktop?

Download Speedfan. Depending on how many sensors are built into your computer, you may get different temperature readings.
 
What the hardware monitor, found on most boards at this time, does when in the system bios is read directly from the board's own temp sensor's. The cpu socket as well as a few other places on the board will one available. For a look at the cpu temp as well as board temp you can download some freeware programs like SpeedFan that you give the closest seen with software that also reads from the same sensors.

SpeenFan also reads a limited amount of voltages for the cpu and some fans as well as some for the board. You can download that free at http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php The one thing to note about SpeedFan or any other program like Everest Home edition is that they can also give off false readings at times. Since you are running a single not dual cored cpu according to your sig this shouldn't be much of a problem as trying to read more then one core. Start by comparing software readings to those seen with the monitor in the system bios for accuracy before getting confident.

I just got these reading on this computer. does this mean my computer is going to blow up?

You are allowing your's to climb to 60C? :eek: When I oced here I kept it down at least at the low 50Cs. Are you running stock cooling there?

The 29C must be something seen when first powering up and not reaching the actual idle temp. But temps that low are farr from any problem. Anything that low usually means a cpu running at stock.
 
wen i leave my computer on to d/l while im at school my cpu temp reaches 45 degree celcius

pentium 4 ht, prescott i believe, clocked at 3.2 ghz (no ocing) and it has the stock cooler. i think a big problem is the ambient temps in the box are in the mid 40's, it only has the psu fan and 1 92mm fan, it draws air from a vent on the side (which isnt blocked, i give it at least 6 inches of space to draw air). i will be getting some decent cooling in there, i think the case has 5 120mm's an 80mm and the psu im getting has dual fans (the dual fans isnt the reason im getting the psu fyi..). it might be loud, but meh, the 92mm fan on here is incredibly loud, louder than any fan i have heard, but maybe the fan's bearings are bad. i dont know, but i would like a new case anyway, i might as well get one with some decent cooling.

That would be the course of reason. You certainly can't rule out a niosey cpu fan. The idea was to confirm that was the one with a problem there. There are several great looking cases depending preference and application. If you not primarily after a gaming case and want some good air flow without the expense of an air conditioned case or water cooling Antec had a 900 model out with two 120mm front intake fans to start with, a 120mm rear exhasut, and the optional 120mm side cover fan there. Newegg and xoxide.com both have that one in stock.

The P180 was the only Antec model case presently seen at http://www.xoxide.com/antec-p180-case.html That one has two rear exhaust 120mm fans locations(upper and lower chamber) with a top of the case 120mm exhaust, the option of a single 120mm in the front, and an 80mm on the side cover. :( That's a lot better then the last case here was but lacks what the 900 offers.
