Temp?

Hi,

I was just wondering what the average temperature for an Intel Celeron 2.4ghz. I am just curious as i think mine may be running a little hot. Also, I would like to know the average temperature for a harddrive. I am not overclocking at all.

Thanks,

Matt

Well our family computer has a Celeron D 2.6Ghz and it runs around 50-55C Idle. It used to run around 65-70C Idle!

Whats yours running at?

I am not actually sure what it runs at normally, as i have only been taking temperatures in the last few days. This was triggered by Australia's excessive heat, we were getting 40+ yesterday. Someone suggested take the side panel off and let a house fan onto it for a day. The temps on this day were:

CPU 47-53C
HDD1 (active) 45-50C
HDD2 40-45C

I turned it off last night as i didnt want anything to get hot, and turned it on about half an hour ago, this is what they read (i dont have the fan on anymore):

CPU: 51C
HDD1: 50C
HDD2: 46C

Remembering its only 8:15am.

Thanks,

Matt

what fan dont you have on, the side one? Unless you have alot of airflow in your room i would suggest leaving the side on it.

yeah that happened to me last summer when i get a celeron D...we got hit by a heatwave and my cpu fan would kick up to 5000+rpm once in a while when i played halo. I took the side panel out and blew a huge house fan into the case, helped a bit. i guess your only choices are to leave the side panal off and clean the case out more often, or hope the the heatwave will leave.

On that note, i noticed that my CPU cooling fan is running at 2766rpm. Could i cool it more by upping the speed if possible?

Thanks,

Matt

My celeron 2.6GHz in my laptop runs at 32c idle and i dont do much loading so im not sure about that.

geoff5093 something must be very wrong there. :)

yea i agree with tweaker, look at my idle temps, and celerons/semprons are designed so they dont put out much heat at all!
i dont think they even use fans sometimes!
55celsius is definitely REALLY high... my old 130nm proc didnt put out that much heat.
either way you can lower temps by using a new $30 heatsink and some silver 5 with a decent rpm... if it really is 55celsius i bet you could get it down to a good 25-30 celsius if done correctly!
