Bethesda just released TES II: Daggerfall for free! to celebrate the 15th anniversary of TES :D.
Here's the link (you can also get TES: Arena for free)

Daggerfall is amazing, graphics suck but its huge (the map is the size of britain, literally!)
Also while I am on the subject of TES does anyone know anything about TES: 5? Except that it might come out in 2010.

I've read a review on Daggerfall and apparently they walked across the map, which took them about a week.

I've heard very little on TES:5 except for a possible release date of 2011. I'm currently playing Oblivion after a long time with Morrowind and this game is like crack.

I just don't like first person fantasy games. If its first person I want to shoot guns, if it is fantasy I want third person with more action type game play, like Diablo or the many Diablo clones.

Oblivion, while cool and all got boring real fast for me. However I did think the assassin's guild quest where you have to make the whole house of people kill each other was pretty freaking sweet.

Yeah I loved the Dark Brotherhood quests, I love the one where you go to the party and have to kill everyone one by one (might be the one your talking about?)
EDIT: You know Morrowind and Oblivion are both first person and third person, right? (And if you are wanting action in Oblivion try the Arena in Imperial City)

I find most games by Bethesda are like crack : P

I read that too, I wonder how long it would to find everything in the map :|

Daggerfall is the largest Elder Scrolls game to date, featuring a game world estimated as being 161,600 square kilometres (62,394 square miles or 40,400,000 acres) with over 15,000 towns, cities, villages, and dungeons for the player's character to explore.

....15,000 cities?! They must have just done a bunch of random generating.

Finished that house guest quest last night and it was awesome.

Yeah I think mostly everything was randomly generated : P
You should try Sheogorath's quest. You need lettuce, yarn and a lesser soul gem when you talk to him. It takes place in a little town called Border Watch here is a link to the quest (its a walkthrough so you can find where Sheogorath's shrine is) http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Sheogorath.
The reward sucks (you get a really random weapon called wabbajack) but the quest is awesome!

I'm looking forward to getting quests working in Morroblivion. Basically it's the Morrowind world (with Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansion packs) running on the Oblivion version of the GameBryo engine. You can explore it just fine but there are no quests, yet.

I've read about that, but from looking at the screenshots all the characters are re-skinned and I like the way the characters look in Morrowind.
In Oblivion the faces are all messed up : P

Yeah but first person hand to hand combat sucks, that is what I am getting at and the game is designed like that from the core.

There's a few mods for Oblivion to give you a crosshair in third person mode and there are probably some for Morrowind as well.

You know in oblivion the map is super small compared to daggerfall? If i remember right..daggerfall is around 60k square miles, while oblivion is like 20 miles(20, not 20k).

I can't explain in my own words without sounding dumb so here's a quote from wikipedia : P

According to Todd Howard, Elder Scrolls programmer, the game's sequel, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is 0.01% the size of Daggerfall, but it should be noted most of Daggerfall's terrain was randomly generated. Vvardenfell, the explorable part of Morrowind in the third game has 15.5 square kilometres (6 square miles). The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has approximately 41.4 square kilometres (16 square miles) to explore. In Daggerfall, there are 750,000+ non-player characters (NPCs) for the player to interact with, compared to the count of around 1000 NPCs found in Morrowind and Oblivion. The geography and the characters in these later games are much more detailed.

can you not just use the console to show all of the points :P

When i get back home i will most probably download this just because it is free. It is a game i have never played but have wanted to for a while, should hopefully be good

So is this a full game or is it some sort of an expansion? Sorry, it's just that I've never played a TES game and since this one seems to be free I guess I'll give the TES series a try.
