Testing Peripherals

Can I test my peripherals (fans lights) without an hdd or CPU? I just got my psu and want to test them.
 
Run the power supply without anything on it besides the peripherals. Get a paperclip and stick one end in a green pin and the other in a black pin, this will turn on your power supply without the motherboard.

Nah provided you get the pins right it's safe, I just didnt want to be liable if he did it wrong and blew something up :P

You can also buy a 20 pin ATX extension cord and splice the green wire to a black wire, no need to run for a paper clip every time ;)
 
Sounds good, problem is that the ModXStream Pro has it's wires ... meshed? I can't remember the word, it's that thread like stuff that protects it from heat.

The connectors that go onto the motherboard can easily be shorted, not talking about the shielded wire end

You should be able to see which pin has a green wire going into it, even though it is sleeved.
 
THEY'RE SLEEVED THAT'S THE WORD!! And it worked...perfectly. I'll be uploading a video of the case later today... IT'S EPIC
