I'm going to be purchasing my first laptop soon, and I wanted some opinions on which would be the best, since I don't know an awful lot about computers.
I want something with a wide screen that has great picture quality. I plan to use the laptop for school, so I would be running basic wordprocessing and school-related software.
Most of all, though, I'll be using the laptop for internet surfing, watching DVDs, and viewing/creating graphics (in Photoshop, etc. - not video games, I won't be playing many of those, if any). I've heard that I should go with an HP or Acer laptop, but I want to know what exactly are the specs I should be looking for. As far as price, I'm thinking something around 700-1000.
