That woul get my vote as well. Excellent performance for under $250.bigsaucybob said:The best price/performance card IMO is the 7900GT.
The X1800GTO and 7600GT provide almost identical performance. The 7600GT gets my pick because of the cheaper price, cooler & quieter operation and lower power consumption:holyjunk125 said:I think the lower midrange card winner would have to be the x1800 gto. Sure it is a bit more expensive but it is much worth it.
The Above Review said:The X1800 GTO and 7600 GT are very close performance wise and I wouldn’t want to let that weigh too much in to my buying decision. The form factor of the 7600 GT is considerably nicer, being smaller, quieter and cooler. The X1800 GTO is loud, clunky and annoying.
But they are lower midrange, at least out of the new generation of card, that is just where they have to be classified, mainly price wise, but their performance is anything but.ceewi1 said:Finally, I wouldn't classify either card as lower midrange!
With regards to the original question, the 7600GT would get my pick for price/performance ratio. It really depends on your budget, intention, and the specs of the system you intend to pair it with. The 7900GT is another great option.
I'd classify cards like the 7600GS/X1600 series as lower midrange (i.e. ~$100 range). If cards like the X1800GTO (~$200) are lower midrange, then what would you define as upper midrange?bball4life said:But they are lower midrange, at least out of the new generation of card, that is just where they have to be classified, mainly price wise, but their performance is anything but.
Thanks for the info. I did not know that. I just sort of assumed considering the 256-bit interface of the x1800gto. Although the 7600gt does have higher clock speeds. Anyways thanks.ceewi1 said:The X1800GTO and 7600GT provide almost identical performance. The 7600GT gets my pick because of the cheaper price, cooler & quieter operation and lower power consumption:
