HI everyone.
I have two laptops that I need to copy large files from one to other. I currently use ethernet cross over wires to do that but it is painfully slow. Anyone ever connect two laptop with usb 2.0 ? or firewire? if you do. can you tell me how. I am talking about 20 to 40 gigabits file transfere.
Thank you in advance?:D
Paul.

Never tried firewire, but I know it's possible. For USB, you do need a special "crossover" cable and software (or I know you did in the past).

If you can use Firewire, give it a shot. If not, I'd say just use ethernet. Are you constantly going to be transferring gigabytes of data? I mean, if it's a one-time deal, then by the time you get an answer you probably could have already could have copied the files over ;)

Hi,
Yes, I copy these files quite often, few times a week. so if I can use fire wire I can save a lot of time. do you know anyone sell this special cable? the usb 2.0 should be faster than the ethernet connections too.
thanks.

As far as I know, you can use a standard firewire cable to go between computers. Maybe I'll try it out myself tomorrow if I have some free time at work.

Hi, have you got any chance to try the firewire? where I am I won't be able to get my hand on the 6 pin firewires that is what comes on the laptops.
thanks.

Yes i had used. I used to transfer my files from one computer to another, and for that I use the usb 2.0. It is much faster than the Ethernet connections. It saves lot of time of mine.
this type of USB is easily available in Computer Accessories shop.
