portal 2 is coming out... hmm now i wasent a huge fan of the first one but apparently this one is gonna be better... what are everyones thoughts on it?
 
I hope it doesent get as repetative as the first and i hope that Garrys Mod do an update for it :)

I'm not looking forward to it at all.

Portal 1 was short for a reason, so it didn't get repetative, so it didn't overstay it's welcome. It is still my absolute favourite game of all time, and I don't think I'd even want to play 2 because it would ruin it completely.

I am sort of excited though because Valve very very rarely dissapoint (except for release dates :P), but even if it is less perfect than the first or makes it too repetative, it could maybe ruin the first. I will wait to see what reviews are first.

I said this in a post a while ago, has anyone else noticed too how ep3 isn't out, portal 2 is coming out, maybe we will see an Orange Box 2 :rolleyes:

Portal was short because it was released as a test, to see if people would enjoy it or not, not so it didn't get repetitive. They bundled it into the Orange Box so it'd have good strong games along with it so cause people to buy it, and Portal there to peek their interest.

If there is an Orange Box 2, it'd be WITHOUT Portal 2, as Portal 2 is to be big enough and hold enough on it's own to be a stand alone game. I've been reading about it and talking about it at my EB with my co-workers/friends.

It was a test, sure, and was based off a game by some students from Digipen, but I really highly doubt that Portal as we know it is how it was first developed, and I don't think it is an accident or just a test that it is that long, Gabe and the rest of the Valve programmers and writers knew you keep people doing the same thing over and over in slightly different senarios, which is what Portal is, they will get bored and not enjoy it.
 
Another release I'm definitely stoked for. I thought the entire concept behind the first one was brilliant and I hope they continue to push the limits and merge the puzzle genre with FPS.
