The Difference between a A64 and XP is Pheonominal.

My Friends AthlonXP1800+ w/Radeon 9700PRO gets 11098

The Difference is HUGE. Athlon64 is clearly the way to go for gaming. Eitherway.....with the Radeon9700PRO being 128MB.....Hl2 Runs preety decent on it. He gets about 45-60 FPS or so. high 30's if there is ALOT of drawing. We used the result browser to get the results from a XP 3000+.........and its about 1k higher.

I told him to play it...and have fun. Wait a year or so with the A64Prices come down......and snatch one.

He's preety happy with his new PC.

The difference is massive, AMD64 is without a doubt best for gaming.

Ya and still Half life 2 runs "Great" on my old Athlon XP3000+ 1gb Pc-2700 ram with an ATi 9600 pro ;-). Also for the record it plays Doom3 although a tad slow due to weak video.

This makes me think that my athlon64 system is gonna do me just fine for a couple of years to come.
