The Future of Computers.

While the current technology is about maxed out, I think you will see a totally different technology in a few years that is able to operate at lower voltages = lower temps. Then we will see the performance increase.

Singularity

Yeah quantum computers seem cool, the technology will develop eventually.

And for everyone that thinks computing power is going to plateau, I believe this is wrong. Moore's law holds true, but technology really accelerating on an exponential curve.

Whoever is was that mentioned technological singularity has the right idea. Computing power is going to not only increase in speed and capacity over time, but devices get smaller and smaller. Look at our cell phones today. The iPhone and many others are hand held computers. Transistor technology has gotten so small that we can walk around with a mini-computer in our pocket.

Not only that but biotechnology and computer science will become highly integrated. Everyone should read up on singularity, it is very interesting material. It is basically when the gap between humans and machines becomes indistinguishable. When we can create robots so intelligent that the robot can do anything a human can. The robot's intelligence increases faster than ours, and develops newer and better technologies. It's wild to think about.

OMG, I'm telling you for the people that watched iRobot with Will Smith, I really believe that will be a non fictional film in about 20 or 30 years. lol
