The Future of Gaming

In just a couple of years, video games will start looking really close to real life. Take gta 4 for example. With a couple of graphic mods, its the realist looking game around. So I think by 2 years all games will either look that good or way better. Except console games, because consoles suck. Gta4 for consoles looks nothing close to real

GTA4 on PC is terrible. It is a good game, but because it is programmed for consoles, it runs so inefficiently on PC. I also prefer PC gaming, but GTA4 is one of the games that I would get on my xbox beacuse the PC version is so badly coded. It looks good on PC yes, it plays ok on PC yes, but you need a bitchin' system, even though it should only need an average system if they put more time into actually coding it properly for PC and not just porting it directly from consoles

It also doesn't look as good as say, i dunno, crysis, which is still the best looking game around. When I first got a setup good enough to run it i downloaded the demo and had to stop to look over the scenery for a couple of minutes, just stood still looking because I was so shocked, and that was on low/medium settings. GTA4 on the other hand, looked remarkably average with todays graphics
 
GTA IV was not made for computers... it's pretty badly optimised. And yes, the graphics are not exactly stunning either.
 
The technology behind gaming is already starting to plateau you will see some increases but I think that in the end innovation beyond technology will be what revolutionizes gaming.

Look at the PS3. It is so advanced hardware wise yet developers can't even take advantage of what, 1/10th of it's abilities?
