The game lags when I record :(

Well, the topic says it all, my computer is good enough to be able to record lag-free, I play COD4 by the way.

Motherboard: Biostar TP35D2-A7 Intel P35
Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (4 CPUs) 8MB Socket 775
RAM: Plazir 8GB
Graphicscard: Inno3d 9800 GTX 512MB DDR3

Woah, I would think a computer with 8gb's of ram and a graphics card like that should record fine.. If you are getting 100fps on cod4 which you should easily get, it would seem like you would get 40-50 or so when recording..

Holy cow, 8 gigs?! Windows doesnt even support that...Well 64bit does, but what program is going to use all that?!

Im going to have to agree with Travis here, if you say "yes, 50 fps is lagging" Then I may go crazy...

32 bit applications can not address 8 gigs of RAM, so it is moot. If your system lags it is either of the following

1) Software corruption or misconfiguration

2) Software incompatibility (not optimized for your OS)

3) Poorly coded software (happens all the time)

4) intermittent hardware failure somewhere in memory

5) hardware configuration issue (huge bottle neck)

6) user error (you did it wrong)

Typically your biggest bottle neck with be disk I/O performance so if your hard drive is like almost full, the file system is corrupted, or it is starting to fail you will have some performance issues.

Hehe nice and quick responses. Well I dont know how too fix any of those things you posted, since im quite stupid when it comes to computers. Btw I can only use 4 gigs of ram on my 64 bit system, running windows vista home premium. I have 91 FPS ALL the time, even if I lower the graphics too the lowest I all ways have 91 FPS and it never ever goes higher. Maybe there's somthing wrong with my comp ?:s My ping drops too 30 when I record and I get this weird lag

Drops? Whats wrong with low ping. The lower the better! Do you mean your fps? If yes, then thats SUPPOSED to happen. Almost all recording applications LOCK the framerate at 30 whenever they are recording. Nothing you can do generally, 30fps is plenty playable anyway. As for why its stuck at 91, I think I know the answer with vsync but Ill let someone else take that one.

Geez you guys answer fast... I dont even have time too play.
The only thing is that ppl keep telling me that their comps doesnt lag at all when they play, and in COD I'd really like too play 1v1, and I have to record all my games which will suck with this lag I got. The only weird thing is that when I record, and then watch the movie it seems as I dont lag at all..

When recording video, the hard drive plays a significant roll as well. Are you running a single drive?

Most likely the other people who are running lesser hardware are used to only getting 30 fps, they've never seen it higher, so they dont notice when the program locks it at 30.

What program are you using? I think fraps you can lock at 60, but you have to pay for it...

Why do you HAVE to record every single one?

4 I think. I heard something from a friend that you can start the recording program on another processor, that way it wont lag as much, is that true?

With the paid version of FRAPS you can have it record video at any framerate. I prefer setting it to 60FPS and enable vsync in the game so it stays around 60FPS.

I'm not using the payed one and I can set my framerate. I set it at 100 on my Xfire record thingy but it's still at around 50, it works fine but its still kinda weird since I havent played with lag for a while :P

And how do I fix my FPS? I mean its allways at 91, even if I use the lowest graphics and all that, it allways stays at 91.
