The Keyboard that Loves Hibernating

Ok, here is a doozy, I can't figure out. I'll explain my problem through my steps I took.

My Ideapad flex 4 1470 a few weeks ago would have it's keyboard unresponsive after boot up. So at first I thought it was a keyboard driver, so I'd uninstall, delete driver and reboot. That was a hit and miss usually a miss. So after a couple of weeks of that frustration, I went ahead and did a system restore (Win). At first the keyboard was fine but after the 1st or 2nd reboot it went unresponsive again.
Then I had the hunch to try 'hibernate' and sure enough the keyboard works coming out of hibernate. So now whenever I am required to reboot, and my keyboard is unresponsive, I simply put it into hibernate and the keyboard works everytime.

Any ideas of the culprit?
