The little thingie you know, wireless for a laptop?

LOL, hey guys I was wondering, for older laptops, you had to buy a separate adapter "card" that was inserted in a slot on the side of the notebook to get wireless connection to a network. Is this port the same on all laptops? Or are there different types of it?

There are only two different kinds of slots/ports I think. PCMCIA and Express.
