question for you guys..

going from the system that i have now..

would you rather do the following with your money?

get:

1) the logitech z-5500's

2) a new LCD (940b, vx922) .. (i have a 15.5" viewable CHEAP CRT right now..)

3) save and get one of these next-gen graphics cards?

.. about #3.. i'm not really happy with the performance of my gt.. so keep that in mind....

2...Because you can't enjoy your graphics card w/o a nice monitor

here are some benchmark results:

3DMark06
x1900XTX 512MB - 5722
7800GTX 512MB - 5332

x1900XTX 512MB CrossFire - 8328
7800GTX 512MB SLI - 8251

Both cards get 120FPS in HL2 Lost Cost.

Doom 3
x1900XTX 512MB - 130FPS
7800GTX 512MB - 141FPS

Far Cry
x1900XTX 512MB - 147FPS
7800GTX 512MB - 141FPS

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
x1900XTX 512MB - 83FPS
7800GTX 512MB - 71FPS

Call of Duty 2
x1900XTX 512MB - 53FPS
7800GTX 512MB - 47FPS

F.E.A.R
x1900XTX 512MB - 95FPS
7800GTX 512MB - 91FPS

So in conclusion, you can tell that the x1900XTX will be superior to the 7800GTX, and only costs $650. But they have the x1900XT for $550, and its exactly the same except its 25Mhz less core, and 100Mhz memory. But that can easily be obtained from overclocking, so its easy to say that ATI's $550 card outperforms nVidias $750 card.

I've already spend 1200 on my videocards the 7800gtx sli dont need the x1900xtx the only difference i will see is the 3dmark. As far as it goes with gaming as long as i can play all the games in the market to the highest settings its all i care about besides im not going to spend another 1200 on videocards that will not make a difference with older generation card.:P

im not saying to spend $1200 on 2 new video cards, and if thats all you care about then why wouldnt you just get a 6800GT instead of 2x 7800GTX's?

And im saying that to let people know if there considering getting a 7800GTX, to get the x1900XT instead.

Shouldnt it be out today?
Yes it is, newegg actually has them in stock for $650 (the XTX version), but i would say buy the XT version and overclock it by 25/100 and you have a XTX.

$500 for the X1900XT, add in the OC and u got yourself a single card that will beat dual 7800GTXs! a lot cheaper aswell!

Well i found a card that can easily beat a 7800GTX 512mb. And its the x1900 series
Again, X1900XTX is not a card; furthermore, you've been around long enough to realize relevent threads (especially since you replied to the other one).

does anyone know if its dx10 compatible?
It is

yeah..i wonder how many actually ppl are gonna get that card, I mean, serioiusly, 1200 for just a graphics card, many ppl may 1200 for their entire computer!.
Im lookin to get one inside of 2 weeks for testing purposes :)

Actually, according to some new sources the card will only be 16 pipelines. but it will have 48 pixel or vertex shaders.
Got links on these sources? IIRC they say the X1900 family is limited to 16ROPs/pass

Absolutely, that and the issues with B&W2 are:
1. Its a dumb game :P (ok thats just me being stupid :P)
2. There are known bugs in that game that cause ATi cards to not play nice.
