well you can't compare a prebuilt system to one you build for lots of reasons.
I am aware of that.

I voted for PCs, just like everybody else. I like macs, but they are still a little foreign. And just not customizable and stuff like a PC is.

I voted for Macs because I've always wanted one mainly for the OS and their shiny white case and the size of em.

I voted for PC's because of their customization abilitys and theese days pretty much everything is made for PC's.They also cost less.

I vote Pc

Ive never used a Mac,Although the Intel mac looks great with windows on it.

I wouldnt mind picking one of them up when there a little cheaper.

OK. So PC is the #1 at the moment, but then why do people like video editors prefer MAC? And if you could build a computer with PC parts would you use a MAC OS instead (since it seems that the price it the main factor)

Final Cut Pro and DVD studio pro are two very powerful tools and not that expensive when comparing them to video toaster or another high end professional software package.

At one time you were able to build your own mac, they called them mac clones. Apple stopped letting people make their hardware because they lost too much money on hardware sales.

Also, why would you even want to install windows on your mac its a waste of hard drive space? With virtualization software from parallels desktop and with windows APIs from cross over you can run a virtual windows machine or the application natively on x86 based macs.

I would really like to be able to use the Mac OS with PC parts, but I would also need Windows to function. There are so many games not compatible with Macs, along with tons of software.

This is not true. Macs support printing over LDAP and IP so basically they can print just about any network printer. They also support CUPS, and gimp print.

Wireless adapters, they have their own kind, called airport and its built in to almost every system, and they are compatable with about every wireless AP out there.

Also, go price out a new dell with the same specs as a mac pro and the mac pro is actually $300.00 cheaper. I didn't believe it myself until I actually did it. Make sure you use the crestwood chips since the mac pros use them (1Gig bus).

1. Not all printers are on wireless networks. I have brand new HP Laserjet 1018 printer that's not compatible with a mac......

2. I don't know whether it's a bad adapter or because of the titanium shell but my moms laptop gets a horrible signal.....

3. Following up on no. 2, if it is a bad adapter, you still have to buy an overpriced, over-hyped adapter and possibley a service fee to get it installed.

3. Macs overall are overpriced and over-hyped and you have to pay through the teeth to get upgrades, which, btw, you can't even install yourself.....

All I can say is that macs are really reliable but over-rated.......

It will work if networked to a PC or running the GIMP print driver. There is support for the 1015 and the 1018 can use the same driver. You don't need drivers to print via LDAP or IP. It just has to be hooked up to a PC or a print server. It can be networked anyway you want. As for bad wifi signal that could be enviromental or a bad atenna. That can happen to any laptop reguardless of platform.

I would say Alienware is more overhyped and overpriced than the macs. For being a prebuilt closed platform machine they actually have cheaper high end products over dell, HP, etc The Mac Pro, mac book pro and the Xserve are two examples.

You have to pay to service any kind of computer not just mas.
