The Official Phenom Thread *FLAMERS&TROLLS AND FANBOYS NOW WELCOME!!!*

So... as we all know, the Phenoms were pretty much a flop, and AFAIK all AMD (the CPU department, that is) has been doing lately is fixing them. But I'm curious as to what exactly they're up to, so I though that I might as well create a dedicated discussion thread... what are they up to, what's happening, both financially and technologically.

Anyone looking forward to the new 45nm Phenoms (Deneb & Heka)? I don't know what exactly they have done to the new Phenoms but I just have the feeling that they may actually stack up against Core2 architecture, and keep them afloat (don't say Nehalem...)... they're supposed to release a 3GHz stock part, maybe these CPUs will actually turn out to be decent OCers. The 6MBs of L3 cache they promised doesn't sound too bad either.


So, maybe these new Phenoms will actually be good...who knows, maybe they even have something up their sleeves to match even Nehalem (apparently I do believe in miracles :P)

Any rumors, sources, anything?

It's okay Danny, even the special children can talk about the Phenom (Fee-Nom ;))

I haven't heard much about it. They are supposed to release processors that support DDR3 by the end of the year, but other than that I haven't heard anything. I doubt they will catch up to Intel this time around. Although, I was wrong about ATi and nVidia.

I rekon AMD could come out with something pretty decent... then again, they may not. :rolleyes:
I'm kind of hoping they do, so there's some competition again. I'm sick of saying "Don't even look at AMD, go Intel". I wanted heated debates people... ones with loads of people. One that'd get so big... It'd be a master, a master debate.

Yeah, back on topic...

I really hope the 45nm procs provide significant performance increases. As I come along info, I'll be sure to post in this thread. ;)
