The phone doesn't show up on my computer when I connect it

Used to be when I connected my phone via USB it would show up in My Computer and I could access it as a USB drive, now, me having done nothing at all, this no longer happens.

When I connect the cable I hear a sound, the phone shows me that it is connected, but nothing shows up in My Computer.

Any idea what might be the problem?
 
What kind of phone? Some you have to put into a media transfer mode in order to have it show. Could also try a different USB cable and/or port.
