The Required Resource INSTMSIA.EXE Is Missing vmware

i am running windows ME on a flashdrive and i want to install windows 2000 as a virtual machine but windows me is out of date so look at a whole bunch of virtual machines that will work on windows me then i found vmware player 1.03 then i downloaded it when i tried to install it brings this message the required resource instmsia.exe is missing so i went on microsoft and downloaded the file and installed it then i had to restart my computer then i tempted to install vmware player again then it still says the message. Can someone help me please.
 
then how do you install it because i double click the file instmsia.exe then it says it installs then it says restart then when i try and install vmware player 1.03 it says the message the required resource instmsia.exe is not found.
 
If you are trying to run Windows Me (or anything else) in a virtual machine on your current machine (assuming you're using the one in your signature with XP), then I recommend you download the latest VMware Player from here http://www.vmware.com/products/player/ and then install that onto your XP PC and create a virtual machine of Windows Me.

It sounds like you're trying to install VMware Player on Windows Me which is running from a flash drive? Not the best way to do it, install the latest VMware Player on your main machine and run Me inside of it.
 
sorry i do not have windows xp right now because my hard drive is broken so i am trying to install vmware on a windows me so i can run windows 2000 to stay in date because i can't get windows 2000 or xp on flash drive so i want vmware 1.03 because it is light weight and windows me is only compatible up to version 2.04. so i do need the help and i did modified the files on the windows xp cd so it can work on flash but i messed up on the dosnet.inf file and i ran out of CDs and i don't have the money to buy more because i am saving up for another hard drive for my computer. so i need some help for that instmsia.exe file and i need to know where to install it.
