The Sims 2 HELP!!!!!!

I just installed the sims 2 and whenever i put the disc in it comes up to the sims 2 screen then thats it, that screen disappears and nothing happens, and sometimes it comes up with this error box saying "The Sims 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience." I have sent the error report and havent found anything out from it. My computer meets all the system requirments and I know that game works cause it works just fine on my dads computer. whats the problem?
 
I have the latest Direct X and i dont have any patches on my dads computer for it to work. Theres a few little scraches on it but there not that bad, it works just fine in my dads computer with that disc. All my drivers are up to date.

The whole idea with "some" patches is to fix compatibility problems. The problems can be caused by certain configurations... Unless you and your dad have identical PC's with identical software, the patch idea is valid.

If you have a firewall or antivirus try disabling it. You could also try to install the game in safe mode.
 
I tried disabling firewall and antivirus and no luck and direct x and all my drivers are up to date, any more ideas?
