The Sims 2 Problem!!!

hi there guys!!!

i have a problem playing the sims 2!!!
this last day, i've just installed sims 2 on my computer and installed without problems!!!
but when i trying to play the sims 2, on the splash screen i got an error message that states: The CD-ROM could not locate, please insert the coorect CD-ROM.
i have two cd drives one is CD-Rom while the second is CD-RW, i used the cd-rw drive to install sims 2 because when i try to insert the disc 1 of the game, the cd-rom didn't read the contents of the disc!!! i've tried to open the cd-rom drive but it states that: please insert a disc!!!
but in cd-rw, it works!!! and now when i try to start the game, it didn't start!!!
someone help me!!!

is the sims 2 on a DVD disk or CD disk...maybe if its DVD ur drive just isnt reading it cuz it cant..hmmm...not sure tho:(
 
On question to ask, may be weird but is it a copied CD? if so then it most likely wont work

Also like was mentioned earlier make sure that it is not a DVD
 
Games generally won't work on a different drive then what they were installed from, since the file path would be different. As for the problems that you are having now, try to do some patching and see if that helps.
 
i tried patching too, but it didn't work!!!
i have 2 drives:cd-rw and cd-rom drive
i prefer to install the game to the cd-rw and installed succesfully, but when i try to play the game, i got the error message states:
Cannot locate the CD-ROM
and i try to put the disc 1 of the game onto my cd-rom but the cd-rom drive doesn't read anything...
i tried all the four discs but only the disc 1 doesn't detected!!!

what shall i do???!!!

try mounting the device using alcohol program or daemon tools program. try looking for the file to be mounted in the cd. usually it ****.MDS. hope it helps
 
ugh The Sims 2 screwed me over too. I downloaded The Sims Family fun pack and it crashed my whole game. I lost literally everything.

But I'm not sure what's exactly happening with yours .. are you sure you didn't buy the DVD edition? That could be it.
