I'm sure some of you know what i'm talking about :(

I foolishly started to install my 8800gt while the computer was still on, I dind't even realize what I was doing until I heard a loud, high pitched squeel. I quickly pulled the card out but I think the damage has been done since I can't get a signal outa her:(

Is there anything I can do to fix the thing? is ndvidia known for good customer support? I don't have the box or receipt anymore....

Ouch...I am not even going to ask why:P

No box...No receipt...more than likely they will do nothing for you. Even companies like eVGA and BFG who might have the best customer support in the industry require a receipt and most of the original packaging. At least in my experience of returning computer hardware that's the first 2 questions they ask...Do you have the receipt? Do you have the packaging?

I guess just call them and ask. If you tell them how it happened they will say no. The card was not installed according to the Users Manual.

You might just have to suck this one up and buy a new card:P Lesson learned;)

yep... a very expensive lesson

ahhh well, I wasn't too pleased with that card anyways, this incident gives me a reason to upgrade!

I always was one for saving receipts and the manuals. stapled the receipt in side the manual. when i get rid of the hardware the manual goes with it. was always good to register and follow the warranty because of issues. ya might want to try if ya can dig up the receipt. at least paying with credit card or check leaves a trail.

That's exactly what you should do. I keep everything! That will also help you sell it when it is time. I also register every product when I get it.

He has one for sale! $60 shipped is a nice price!
