The W key?

Ive been noticing that when I play games like GTA3 and CoD that when I press the w key and hold it to go, I go for a little while and then it will stop and I have to press it again. And it even happens when I substitute the up arrow key with the W. Ive tried looking at my settings and seeing if that will help, I tried going into Word and holding W, but it never stopped and needed to refresh or whatever. I also tried to update my drivers.I dont really know what else to do...Im wondering if there is something Im missing....my keyboard is a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A...any help would be appreciated. thanks

The strange thing is that your keyboard is only affected when you run GTA or games the key does not work correctly, also when you use another. hmmmmm most confusing. but when you use word is doesn't, I would personally put that down to the game. Try these things then get back to me. (If you have done them let me know)

  • Uninstall the game, then re-install
  • Subsitute the forward key for another

Another problem could be a script error in the game.
Of course the problem could be solved by simply buying a keyboard maybe.

I cant reinstall the game because my I loaned it to a buddy, but it also does the same thing when playing other games, or at least Call of Duty, I also tried using the up arrow instead of W as they both have the same function, but it did the same thing. Thanks though

The only thing I could then suggest is either a game script error or your keyboard is knackered. It seems strange to me though that you cant use them correctly in game but in normal computing it works fine.

That is most confusing to me

Try testing that button:- Open up a text editor (doesn't matter which) and keep hold of the w key, if the w's stop before you take your finger off the key then there must be something wrong with the keyboard else it must be the game in which case I recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling the game :D

Strange seeing as how I just gave all that advice and he said that he already did that.

thanks for your help and all, but Im pretty sure its the keyboard...bceause it never happened before I had this keyboard...its pretty upsetting because I paid 480 for the keyboard and mouse..:(

I have the same keyboard, and this also happens to me whilst playing Counter-Strike.

Difference is mine does it on any other program also, what I suggest is to buy a new keyboard, that's what I am going to do (even though I have only just bought this one :()

To be honest, Microsoft need to check their items before the distribute them as this is probably an extremely common occurrance.

Think. Microsoft. Bad keyboard. What does Microsoft say? "Your fault." What do they think? "Hahaha, suckered another customer into buying that." *evil grin*
