"the web page you are viewing is trying to close the window" i keep on getting this when i turn on my computer and its getting annoying. Im not connected to the internet or viewing a page when it says it. every thing use to be fine but it started saying that a couple days ago. i reset security so i dont think its that. any suggestions?

go into msconfig and check to see if there is anything "fishy" swimming around in there.

start run msconfig

How will he know?
If you are unsure what to do, don't tick anything, just write down your startup items here, we will know what to do.

yeah or that.... but you can safely shutdown everything in XP's msconfig... i think 98 had a hissy fit.

No way. There are some processes that are needed for Windows to work.

I was doing a little research on this... a lot of people have this problem, but they all were in IE7 at the time of the problem and tried to close it... now the only fixes i have seen was some java scripting. I dont think that will fix your problem... could you tell us what the website is thats trying to close that might be a hint.

Probably random. That's what's happening to me right now.
On somr random sites you visit, it just decides to shut down , eh.

help!!!

ight I messed up big time now. I changed 2 things in the startup and the MSG went away. I tried to single the cause out but now I can't log into my account. It says it cant load my profile. I am the only person with an account so I can't change the startup any other way what do I do now?

alright i just went threw hell right now but i got my computer running again. the msg is still there though. i would tell you what site it was on but i dont know. the msg pops out right when i turn on the computer. im not even connected to the internet yet

Hm, Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Is it me or do people with certifications know everything... Oh wait thats right i have several should i list them including everyone on on your list and then some. Sheesh man just becuase we are certified doesnt mean we know more than others trying to help be nice man. Gamemaster has helped a lot of people myself included so give him props man seriously.. True he can shut down all processes "safely" using msconfig but by doing this he will also stop all antivirus and other programs he may want to use. Follow gamemaster's instructions and post hijack this logs for us to review please..
