So i was checking out this dell pc.Aparently it fails to locate the primary hard drive and causes a boot failure.it doesn't happen all the time only on some ocassion. i tried swapping power cables but to no avail (note:i never did swap with the power cable being used by the cd rom).
so me being stoopid will try to clone the hard drive with a spare i have.I installed Acronis and started the cloning process, asfter a short time acronis hit me back saying "cant read sector XXXX of disk 1" "retry, abort, ignore", since i has no choice i aborted).i switched off the pc removed my hard drive.
guess what ?
The dell progress bar freezed at 100%!! ODD,so i reconnected my hard drive and the pc booted, i enter windows, uninstall acronis, shutdown, removed my HD but same problem.
so i connected the Power cable being used by the cd-rom.I had to leave my hard drive in there also,as without it the dell will freeze at the Dell splash screen.
what can be causing this ? power or hard drive ?
my guess it power cause this problem started in march so the hard drive would have failed completely after all this time...any suggestion ?
