i have received a thermal jel(?) compound from the cp fan i have ordered.
so i installed it and got 37C, so i was very unsatisfied,

but when my friend helped me re do the installing, now i have 27C or so.
i find it good enough, but he said it not good enough if i want oc my cpu from 1.8Ghz to 2.6Ghz (opteron 165)

get some artic silver five and a good heatsink and fan and you should be able to overclock it to 2.6

Heya

27 Celsius is a perfectly fine, if not an excellent temperature. Mine was at 29 Celsius on stock cooling and now has risen to approximately 31 Celsius. Note that I went from 1.8Ghz to 2.7Ghz. Max load temps are 47 Celsius. My TcaseMax rating is 56 Celsius so I am not worried at all. In your case I would expect to see an even better temperature delta.

I would recommend Arctic silver 5 too, but at 27C you don't need any help that is a very acceptable temperature. If you're using quality memory then should be able to overclock to 2.6 GHz without incident.

The Artic Silver 5 is the best, since silver is the best solid material for transferring heat.

yea, the best substance for a heatsink is silver.. or thermal compound.
basically, 40C arent great temps, but its expected from stock cooling and probably just meant to keep you from overclocking.
make sure the fan is on!

Thats pretty good for stock cooling, now you can OC some... AS5 isnt going to cool it down dramaticly, hence the 5 in AS5.

i don;t know, i didn't relly look it up on a as5 application,,, but i think i did it right,
+ the one you have link up there is as1,2,3 only....
its old application

For stock cooling that is great without overclocking when u get into the changeing hte volts (which you well ahve to do to overclock it that much if yoru system is stable) then the temp well raise up alot and hten you well need to get a much better heatsink and get the artic silver 5 (best out there for thermal paste cooling) but if you want to really overclock it that much i would suggest a nice water cooling system cause i don't know any heatsink that is goign to keep it cool enought if you want ti over clock it by .8ghz

AS5 can be found at newegg.com and its only a few bucks and it well help lower your system by a few degrees but however overclocking it that much probably won't help cool it that much without a non-stock cooling device.

Arctic Silver 5 is on the above link. And if you install it wrong, like put too much on, it can bring up temps. You need a thin layer.
