Thermal compound removal and Application

Just checked newegg, and it looks like Im geting my nirvana today, but I wasn't sure about how to apply the thermal compound after everythings removed.

Do I apply any thermal paste to the actual heat sink if I'm spreading it on the processor already? Also, should I use the same amount as the dab method for spreading or do I need to use a bit more?

And one more thing, coffee filters and isopropyl alcohol for the removal of the thermal pad, right?

This is how i apply it, as many others.

Put a very thin line down the middle for dual cores, be sure you have it going in the correct direction. Then just seat the heatsink, and it will spread it out.

i use rubbing alcohol for removing the old paste
