thermal paste cap broke

The cap to my thermal paste broke. It accidentally fell off my desk and the cap came off. There's still thermal paste left in the container. I don't want it to dry out or anything, so what can I do to store it?
 
find a needle to stick in the opening, or something that has a tapered point, such as a pen. dont use a pencil, as the tip might break off

I dont think that answers the question. I would suggest just taping over where the cap would go, do it well so no air can come in, and then put the paste into a plastic bag just in case you do have some leakage. If you cannot manage to save the paste, its not a big deal, its relatively inexpensive.
