Thermal Paste

I have noticed a few comments on thermal paste. When I was building my computer I read about it but didn't understand it. Do you need to put it on or does it just improve your heat situation? Have I made a mistake not putting it on.

Did your heatsink/fan come with a thermal pad? That would probably be why you'd be able to turn it on, but if it didnt, then excuse me wtf r u doin?

Its on the bottom of the heatsink, where it comes into contact with the cpu. Its preapplied, and its pretty much always on stock fans. Its regarded to be worse than paste though.

Yes you need thermal paste/compound. All heatsinks come with a pre-applied thermal pad, so unless you removed it yourself then you have thermal compound between your processor and HSF.

If you plan on replacing your processor and/or heatsink, then wait and re-apply it then. If you are asking if you should remove the stock thermal pad and replace it with paste, I wouldn't bother.

Ok, But as I am sure you know I am getting a graphics card and power supply so I could put it on my list. Probably won't make a difference as you said.
