hi, i once had a P4 computer that i decided to overclock, and i bought some new antec formula 5 thermal paste (i've been told that this is the same as arctic silver 5
) and using this i managed to get a nice little overclock.
However when i went to remove the heat sink the cpu got ripped out with it, the thermal paste had ended up glueing the cpu to the heat sink (and it wasn't easy to pull them apart
) that ended up wrecking the mobo, however the cpu was still in working condition after fixing up some bent pins.
Now that is old news,
but i wondering if it would be safe to use the antec forumla 5 on my new rig (in my sig) without glueing my cpu to my heat sink in case i decide to buy a new one. I don't really feel like destoying my new computer
.
also if you have any idea why the thermal paste turned to glue i'm all ears because apparently it is the same as arctic silver 5 and everyone seems to praise AS5 claiming that it is one of the best out there.
cheers!
sorry bout the long post!
and what are the risks of attempting to unlock cores? i have a 550BE that apparently has a chance of unlocking the other cores.
(i will be overclocking some time when i am confident that my cpu won't get glued to my heat sink
)
