This may seem stupid... but what is the best thermal paste out there... is there noticeable difference between the stuff? If I get an aftermarket cpu cooler I'm going to get some thermal paste too so I'm wondering if it matters what I get and what stuff works the best.

Thanks

Yea I had heard that a lot of peopled used that but I was just wondering if there were any other big ones that people liked... but if thats the way to go then thats the way I'll go

mate I've just bought some arctic cooling MX-2 compound after much research. There are articles out there from reputed websites (although i I cant be bothered right now to find them, maybe later today) that show it has 2-4 degrees celcius advantage over many other Thermal interface materials (TIM) including arctic silver 5

it also has a bunch of other advantages that better it even more over its competition. check it out! ;)

I remember another thread about this, it had an website about which pastes were best... Think it was made out of Mercury or something...

you're saying the arctic silver is made of mercury or the one some site liked the best and you can't remember is?

Naw it was an thread a few weeks ago about thermalpaste too... the best one in the world best AS5 by like 40% more transfer or so... it was made outta something... forgot. You'll probably find it as many ppl responded.
