Thermaltake 850W Black Widow

Well my OCZ 1010W gamexstream died and I wanted a quick fix so I saw bestbuy had a sanely priced computer component for once. I picked up a Thermaltake 850W Black Widows Modular PSU for $200.

It has one PCI-e 8 pin and two 6 pins. My question is do you think 850W is enough for two GTX 275's? Provided I get a molex/sata to 6 pin adapter as I have an 8 to 6 pin adapter already with the PSU so I just need one more 6 pin.

Well your PSU looks like this

I would suggest the Corsair 1000w modular + free shipping + 30 mail-in-rebate for $210. THIS my brother is a SANELY priced PSU. ^-^

All around superior for close to the same price. Plus Corsair has a great RMA service and is very dependable. It also comes with 6 x 6+2Pin so 6 8 pins = Tri SLI. No "adapters" needed.

So id return it to Best Buy...why pay the same price for less? Also the PSU the user above me mentioned only appears to have 6 pins no 8 pins so you would be in the same boat (and still pay more)

You should be fine if you "spread" the load however but I am just a sucker. Now if your running TRI 1792mb versions you should still be fine. If you go I7 however you might not be.

850W is plenty for two GTX275's. But to be honest, i would get something like the HX1000W corsair and return that psu to best buy.. OR contact OCZ and get your power supply rma'ed, they have what, like a 3 year warranty on them?

Yeah, I have to say with the way Thermaltake are turning out mediocre products definitely return it. Get the Corsair as recommended, or the Corsair TX850, if you don't mind that it isn't modular. The 1000watts is a bit overkill.

Well maybe BUT leaves him room to upgrade to I5/I7 AND for the price he payed for the 850w its almost the same price ^-^

Then again the TX850w is close to $100 cheaper ^-^

I'm getting my OCZ RMA'ed. They don't make the 1010W model so they are sending me a 910W one. I'll have to see how they compare to decide if I want to take the thermaltake one back.

And modular ones are usually more expensive, but I have been wanting modular one for a while.

Shouldve asked to get a ModXstream back:P
