think this 800gts is worth it?

my buddy is selling a xfx 8800gts (g92) alpha dog edition for 100 bucks, im considering getting it, think its worth it? somebody might be buying my guitar tomorrow, and if they do, i could get a gtx260/216, or get the 8800gts and a nice cpu cooler considering im still on stock heatsink. any suggestions?

Yeah seems a decent price,A 8800Gt new from newegg is $149 so the gts which is better is quite a good price.

The 8800GTS would definitely be worth it, but the GTX 260 would perform better. Of course, the GTS would still most likely max out all of your games.

The GTS will still be be able to max pretty much anything you throw at it,my gt can max all games ive tried exept crysis,it does play high though with i think 4x aa.

well when i had my 9800gt i was enjoying crysis and whatnot playing maxxed out, resolution WAS 1024x768. im on a 17" lcd. then i found out it supports 1280x1024 and ive been using that, so i doubt the 8800gts can pump crysis at that resolution maxxed, but its still better than integrated for now. i plan on getting a 22" or 23" screen soon, so the gtx260 would be nice to have ahead of time. but on top of that, i need to grab a better powersupply to run it as well. im thinking for now ill grab the 8800gts, and get a gtx260/216 once i have money for a new screen and power supply as well

not trying to troll here, but the gts 250 is just an 8800gts with a bios flash(not sure if you knew that or not)

very true, but they have higher clocks which means the gpu is probably the 55nm version or they have more beastly heatsinks. the gts250 also can come in 1gb, so id prefer that. but im still contemplating if i should get the gtx260 now, or get the 8800gts and wait till i can afford a better powersupply to run the gtx260

Its a 9800GTX+ with a bios flash G92b 55nm. core.

update:

i got the card. i talked him down to 75, and im glad i bought it. this card is great. i overclocked it to 800mhz core and 2210 memory and its stable. its a beast, it blows away the 9800gt i had, and it blows away my g80 8800gts. it stays at about 41 idle and 52 load with that overclock as well. this card overclocks like nobodys business!

also he gave me company of heroes with it, but i dont want the game. id rather sell it and buy some cold cathodes haha. anyone want it for like 15 bucks?
